I Get by With a Little Help From My Friends

Do you ever get that feeling that you have forgotten to pack something but don't know what it is? Typically, it isn't until you have actually reached your numerous-hour-away destination that you remember what it is you forgot. Let's talk about a buzz-kill right there.
That is where the "Pack N' Go" comes into play. The "Pack N' Go" is a smartphone app designed to help travelers pack carefully and efficiently for their upcoming trips. Other packing applications on the market right now are equipped with already made packing lists, or the ability for users to customize their own. However, consumers have found that the ready-made lists tended to be too-extensive and complicated, and the customizable lists took too long to make.

What makes the "Pack N' Go" different from all the other packing apps is that it is designed specifically for you, by people just like you. Travelers can create their own packing list, and then save it to the program, so it is available for all other users to take advantage of. Unlike other apps where the only option may be "Male Warm Weather," The "Pack N' Go" is specific, allowing users to see what other people have packed going to similar places. For example, a middle-aged man traveling to Hawaii for vacation with his wife will most likely have a very different packing list than a college student traveling to Cancun for spring break (at least i'd hope so).
With the "Pack N' Go" users can be specific and practical when packing, thanks to the help of their friends (or strangers). Never again will you have to ask yourself, "Am I forgetting something?"

  1. Great use of graphics in your blog. It really enhances the reading experience. I think the idea is pretty original. It immediately reminds me of the service: rememberthemilk. Crowd sourcing the packing process.

  2. This is a great idea. I think that it is helpful to be able to see what others have packed in similar situations. I like the fact that the app is very personalized so that everyone could benefit as much as possible. These features are far better than pre-made packing lists on other apps. Every person is different and this app conforms to each persons personal preference.

  3. Real good idea. Too many times I've gotten to my destination and said 'Damn, I wish I brought...'. I think, in addition to what to pack, you could add a 'Stuff to do' section that suggests cool places in the locations that their going to. Good job, Joy.

  4. This is a really good idea especially for college students! There have been so many times when i was going on a trip with other people my age and i couldn't think of what to pack. With this it would be so easy to just see what they are packing instead of having to ask them. Not only is this a really good idea, but the picture you used really gives the viewer a visual of what the app would look like. Good job!

  5. This would be such a useful product. Whenever I travel I either over pack or under pack, and when i am packing it consist of me throwing a bunch of clothes aimlessly at a suitcase. I think this app would really help me become organized. One thing I think would be a neat feature to have is the incorporation of weather forecasts. This way if there is a cold front rolling through the beach or a rain storm on the way, the application can alert me and suggest that I pack a rain jacket or another sweater and I can be prepared ahead of time.

  6. I like the idea! It would be very useful for perhaps incoming freshman, because all of us didn't know what to take and not to take. Perhaps an option or an icon that marks that particular item as extremely useful would be good too. A commenting section and "LIKE" icon would be cool too.

  7. Everytime I ride in an airplane, the first thing that comes in my mind is, “What did I forget?”, and needless to say the answer to the question is never “nothing”. An app like this is just what I could use to help me. Something cheap would have such a big impact. Imagine how much money you spend on things on vacation that you left at home. It adds up, in comparison to a.99$ check-sheet.
The only downside to this idea is that it seems like it is something that is easy to set up. Once you create this idea, there will be a large amount of early adopters to try and cash in on your idea. But that being said, simple ideas like this are usually the most effective ones, just look at Google, the site with the purpose of finding other sites.

  8. This is such a good idea!! I always wonder what I should be packing for where I am going and if I am forgetting something. It would be so helpful to have a list like this to help pack. I would definitely download this app. I also love that you used a picture in your blog post to show what this is expected to look like. Love the idea!!
